New Honour for Josh Slater
ยท Michael Findlay
At Presentation Night last Saturday, Josh Slater was awarded life membership to the acclamation of club members.
Josh joined Dandenong fourteen seasons ago alongside Comrey Edgeworth after playing for Kingston Saints. He began in the third grade as a leg-spinning batter and progressed steadily through the ranks.
Career highlights:
- 225 total games for the club
- Highest individual score of 187
- 68 first XI appearances with a personal best of 131
- Victorian Premier Cricket 2nd XI Player of the Year (2017-18), shared with Ryan Quirk
- A standout 7/77 against Essendon in the 3rd XI
A shoulder injury in 2015-16 ended a promising spinning career and led him to take on new roles around the club. Presenter Gehan commended Josh's competitive spirit and leadership, describing him as a very good thinker and leader around the team.
Beyond playing, Josh has served three years on the committee and contributed to the club's social initiatives. His greatest strengths are his consideration for others and his commitment to supporting teammates.
